The Hochschule Niederrhein has become increasingly "euregionalized" over the past 50 years. In various projects, German and Dutch students and employees of the different universities in the euregio rhein-maas-nord successfully work together across borders in the Triple Helix. A good current example is the INTERREG project "Euregio Campus" with the aim to motivate students to consciously decide for the Euregio after their studies and thus to counteract the brain drain phenomenon. In this way, cross-border cooperation ensures that young talents remain in the euregio-rhine-meuse-north, where there are many attractive employers. I hope that we can continue this trend together in the next half century.

Half a century of Hochschule Niederrhein - The Evangelische Stiftung Hephata congratulates and wishes many more good years!

We are glad and grateful that the university exists. It makes Mönchengladbach attractive, which ultimately helps the whole city, including a social enterprise like Hephata. But we have another special reason to be grateful for the university of applied sciences, because we have been cooperating very successfully for a number of years.
Since 2012, we have sponsored up to ten students each year, primarily from the social sector, as part of the Deutschland Scholarship.
Since 2018, we have been working with the university and other sponsors to establish the dual studies in social work.
Of particular importance is the cooperation with Prof. S. Glammeier within the framework of our Hephata magazine, to whose professional expertise we owe not only many advanced thoughts and articles on the cutting edge of research, but also access to scientific monitoring of the work of Hephata. The link between science and practice is the added value from which the universities of applied sciences and Hephata benefit: The practice experiences a review through the critical external view and receives new impulses; the science faces the relevance question and receives "grounding". This benefits the people with disabilities and gives the students a special learning success.

The Hochschule Niederrhein is education and business development in action. A variety of cross-border initiatives bear witness to the close ties between the Lower Rhine region and the Netherlands. Several times I was able to present The Hochschule Niederrhein to the German Bundestag; but also to show some education and research politicians the Hochschule am Niederrhein. The exemplary implementation of the Deutschland-Stipendship also showed me the flexible and innovative power of the Hochschule.
