Laboratories at the Faculty of Chemistry

The Faculty of Chemistry is proud to be able to provide its students and project partners with a large number of excellently equipped laboratories. With their help, excellent conditions are provided for the practical orientation of students and research in the faculty.

Occupational safety and fire protection

Only when employees and students feel safe at work and remain healthy are they motivated and satisfied. Measures in the area of occupational health and safety and occupational medicine are therefore not merely a necessity for the Hochschule Niederrhein, but are implemented in all areas and in the Faculty of Chemistry via a high safety concept.

Dear first-year students

we are pleased to welcome you to the Faculty of Chemistry.

The winter semester 2023 /24 will take place in presence. This means that there will be mainly face-to-face events and only partly virtual events. With the following information you will get an overview of the necessary events at the beginning of the semester.

We wish you a good start and look forward to meeting you and working with you.

Beginners B.Sc & B.Eng. for WS 2023/24

How do you get started in studies?

Dear freshmen WS23/24,

Welcome to the Bachelor studies at the Faculty of Chemistry!

For an optimal arrival and an ideal preparation for the studies at the Department of Chemistry, technical knowledge is indispensable, because all information, access data and contents concerning the introduction week will be provided to you via Moodle course "Studis am FB01".

In order to be prepared, we ask you to register bindingly for the event "Technical Basics for Beginners" on:

25.08.2023 at 10:00 via ZOOM!

15.09.2023 at 15:00 via ZOOM!

This Zoom meeting will present and explain the basics of the technical infrastructure used at the Faculty of Chemistry:

  • The college/faculty website (where can I find what?).
  • Moodle (login, the essential pages, subscribe to a newsletter, etc.)
  • Sciebo
  • The His-Portal
  • Special digital offers

You can register now by sending an email to alexander.liebeheim(at)stud.hn.de (subject: "Technische Basics Anmeldung"), about one week before the event the access data for ZOOM will be sent. Please send your questions to the above mentioned email address!

Yours Alexander Liebeheim,

Moodle Tutor at FB01 ( Student Degree ProgrammeCounsellingTeam)

Bridge Course Mathematics 8/28 - 9/15/23,8:30

In the run-up to the studies, there is a bridge course in mathematics for all students in the Faculty of Chemistry, which helps you to get started in the subject and, if necessary, to close gaps in your school knowledge. The contents are specially adapted to the studies in chemistry (math, physics, PC).

Participation is voluntary, but strongly recommended! Use the templates for self-assessment. All important information about the bridge course can be found under "more info".

Since mathematics is somewhat difficult for many first-year students at the beginning, it is advisable to use the time before the commencement of studies (independent of participation in the bridge course) to make up for any gaps in self-study. Here theOMB+offers a good opportunity to deal with mathematics in advance.

At the commencement of studies, a mathematics placement test is also administered, which forms the basis for recommending participation in a mathematics alignment course. The test takes place online in October and is repeated in January. You will receive further information about this in the bridge course and during the introductory week.
