High value for your research competence!

Gain professional expertise on your specific, scientific research topic - we will sponsor your research skills starting in the 1st semester!
You will actively develop, work on and intensively research a scientific topic in the field of Food, Nutrition and Hospitality Sciences over three semesters. Out of 30 credits to be earned each semester, the research projects will cover:

  • 1st semester: 8 credits
  • 2nd semester: 8 credits
  • 3rd semester: 14 credits

Master seminar

Your studies and research project will be accompanied throughout by the master seminar.
There, master students, research assistants and professors meet for a professional exchange on the master projects. The projects from the 2nd research project semester (FPII) are presented and discussed. You will get to know the spectrum of research questions in nutritional science and benefit from the scientific discourse both professionally and methodologically.
In addition, seminars on current topics in nutrition science and related disciplines are held. We would like you to think outside the box...

What do you need to consider in your application?

Study requirements

Admission requirements for the Master's degree program are:

  • Proof of completion of a relevant or related Bachelor's or Diplom degree program at a German university or a degree from a foreign university that is at least equivalent to the aforementioned; The relevant degree programs include Oecotrophology, Nutritional Sciences, Nutrition and Home Economics, Nutrition and Food Sciences, Nutrition Therapy, Nutrition and Supply Management, Nutritional Management and Dietetics as well as Catering and Hospitality Services; other degree programs in the field of Nutrition and Food Sciences as well as corresponding teacher training programs can be classified as related if at least eight of these areas of competence have been achieved in the studies:
    - Nutritional Physiology and/or Biochemistry,
    - Nutrition of Population Groups,
    - Commodity Science and/or Food Processing,
    - Food Chemistry and/or Food Technology,
    - Foundations of Dietetics,
    - Counseling,
    - Foundations of Sociology and/or Psychology,
    - Business administration foundations and/or marketing,
    - legal studies/food law,
    - project management,
    - mathematics/statistics,
    - laboratory experience in chemistry and/or biochemistry/toxicology,
    - relevant practical experience after the third specialization semester.
  • a final grade of at least "good" (2.5) in the relevant Bachelor's degree programme

Applicants with a foreign higher education entrance qualification require German language skills at level C1 CEF.
