Bernhard Breil is a medical informatics specialist and psychologist and has been teaching as a professor of health informatics at the Hochschule Niederrhein since 2013. Since January 2020, he has headed the Faculty of Health Care as Dean. In teaching education, he is primarily involved in the Degree programme in Medical Informatics and gives lectures on Clinical IT Systems, Systems Integration and IT Project Management, among others.
In his research, Breil focuses on the socio-technical aspects at the interface between humans and IT, examining not only technical aspects but also their effects on humans. Other research topics include the networking of medical information systems and the acceptance of eHealth applications. He is author of national and international publications and speaker at national and international conferences.
Together with two professors from Konstanz, he talks about current topics in medical informatics in the eHealth podcast.
