Eight students from the Faculty of Textile and Clothing Technology are working on the topic of "Multifunctional bicycle clothing for adults" for the "5th semester projects 2024/2025" at Hochschule Niederrhein. The project has been assigned to Team 07 by the theme provider Epson Deutschland GmbH, Düsseldorf. The design of the product focuses on sustainability and safety in an urban environment. Two central goals characterize the sustainability approach: On the one hand, sustainability was emphasized in production by refining recycled materials with the fine dust-reducing sublimation printing technology, and on the other hand, cycling in large cities should be made more attractive. The more people feel comfortable and protected in their cycling clothing, the easier it is for them to decide to use their bike. To increase safety and visibility in urban traffic, the team uses fluorescent ink applied to the fabric using sublimation printing. The print design, inspired by bicycles in big cities, features tire prints in a dynamic arrangement that crisscross across the trousers, jacket and accessories.
