Sustainability is a necessity - now is the time to take responsibility.
Nine students from the Niederrhein University of Applied Sciences from the “Textile and Clothing Technology” department are sending out a clear signal with their project: Together, they are developing an innovative concept for the sustainable production of theater costumes and providing impetus for the Salzburg Festival's sustainability concept in order to produce in a more environmentally friendly and sustainable way.
The focus is on a self-developed guideline that includes sustainable materials, methods for process optimization and innovative finishing techniques.
The haptic results of the project are vividly presented in a modular “construction kit”.
In this way, the students show that sustainability does not limit creativity, but rather opens up new possibilities.
A first example is the costume of the “Screaming Mouths” for the Whitsun production “Hotel Metamorphosis”, which was developed on the basis of a design by Klaus Bruns.
With their commitment, the students combine tradition and innovation - analog and with AI - and create a way in which art and culture can contribute to the preservation of our planet in the future.
Special thanks go to the Salzburg Festival.
