When we talk about storytelling, we are of course telling stories, and we are talking about something elementary, because after all "... we live because we tell ourselves stories" - storytelling is the speaking expression of the connections between I, we and the world. Today we talk about the value, the necessity, the threats and possibilities of new, old, dangerous or helpful narratives, whose power structure is rapidly changing against the background of medial innovations.
Thomas Hoeps wrote his doctoral thesis on terrorism in German novels and narratives. He has published novels, short stories, and poetry. Since 2007, he has been writing with his Dutch colleague Jac. Toes crime novels and thrillers, which have been nominated for the Glauser Prize, the Crime Cologne Award, and the Dutch and Belgian Crime Awards. About the novel "The Tallinn Twist," published in 2022, SPIEGEL wrote: "A current European political thriller of such modernity and class will have to be searched for a long time outside Great Britain."
