Design students show their creations on the catwalk

On Tuesday, April 18th, the "showwalk" of the Faculty of Design at the Hochschule Niederrhein invites you to the event "Body Extensions" in the in-house Shedhalle. Students of the first and second semester of the artistic foundation course/design will show their creations on unconventional body-object-relations. As theoretical input, examples from art history, such as body-object references by Rebecca Horn, Erwin Wurm or Bauhaus artist Oskar Schlemmer have been discussed beforehand.

In creative experimentation with different materials, individual concepts for body-expanding and body-restricting inventions or apparatuses have subsequently emerged. Each creation, celebrated on the catwalk with individual music, evokes an unusual effect on movement and the senses.

Artistic design education, taught by visual artists in the first two semesters at the Faculty of Design, emphasizes perceptual training and an openness to multiple senses and creative experimentation. It is fundamentally important to change and expand the consciousness of both students and viewers of the "showwalk". According to the credo of the artistic teaching team, Mathias Lanfer, Susanne Specht and Thomas Klegin: art is an elementary creative contribution to the shaping of a future-oriented society.

The event begins at 7 pm. The Shedhalle is located on Campus West of the Hochschule Niederrhein at Frankenring 20, 47798 Krefeld. Admission is free of charge.
