What do we mean by table culture? How, where and with what is dining done nowadays? Students from the Faculty of Design at the Hochschule Niederrhein have creatively explored these and other questions - and are now presenting their works to the public for a short time.
In an exhibition entitled "How we eat today - products for a changing table culture," they are showing porcelain (tableware) that they have designed and produced themselves, thus depicting various scenarios of food intake. The results can be seen on Sundays, March 19th and 26th, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. in the "Atelier Pförtnerloge" at the Heeder factory, Virchowstrasse 130.
The exhibition is part of the "A-Gang" series of events, in which artists open the doors of their studios and workplaces every year. On these two days, the university's budding designers will also be on hand to talk to interested parties about their art. The visit is free of charge.
Between March 19th and April 23rd, the exhibition space in the Heeder factory will be closed, but the porcelain designs will be clearly visible in the windows - and thus visible to everyone from the outside.
The exhibition is embedded in the format "designkrefeld sichtbar", a cooperation between the HSNR and the cultural office of the city of Krefeld. The project was developed under the direction of Sarah Seidel, who herself studied design at the Hochschule Niederrhein.
