From June 23 to July 9, urbanorama°, the festival for poetic urban moments, will take place in Krefeld. The Faculty of Design of the Hochschule Niederrhein (HSNR) has conceived the urban festival with many partners. In the process, they will bring a sense of playfulness to numerous public spaces in Krefeld's city center and invite visitors to discover the beauty of the city in a very special way. Urbanorama° is a contribution of the Faculty of Design of HSNR for the 650th anniversary of the city.
"We open up rarely visited places, transform everyday routes into discovery tours and develop new cultural friendships. We provide opportunities to think about the city and its development possibilities," says Nicolas Beucker, professor of public and social design. At The Hochschule Niederrhein's competence centre SOUND, he researches urban living spaces and perspectives for vibrant cities.
"The appealing thing is the unfinishedness, because it is precisely at this stage that the city vibrates. We show what can be designed, what thoughts are released through small interventions," explains Beucker. The program is diverse, interested people can visit exhibitions, concerts, workshops or discussion rounds. Experience cinema at selected public spaces or take part in walks and encounters. The focus is always on the city as a living space.
Typography of freedom, listen here - poems & jazz or the children's workshop "Urban reveries" are just a few of the approximately 30 offers for citizens. In urban sketching, students draw in the old city pool, the sound installation Hyalalie makes the Ostwall audible, and in walks through the city, surprising details contribute to seeing Krefeld with different eyes.
The entire program is available at www.urbanorama-festival.de Almost all offers are free of charge, individual program points require registration via the website.
