The free workshops - some of which last several days - take place at the university locations in Krefeld and Mönchengladbach. In some cases, registration is required: www.hsnr.de/herbstferiencampus
"The courses support young people in their choice of studies. They come to terms with their own abilities and interests. The experience gained there can be an important step in the decision-making process," says Head of Central Student Advice Kirsten Möller-Mevißen.
In the workshop "Sunny Prospects- Photovoltaics" on October 5 at the Krefeld South Campus, pupils will learn what a photovoltaic system can do. Participants can experiment on their own and build a small electronic circuit to power energy storage and a motor.
At the textile printing event on October 5, the young people will learn the entire printing process in the machinery of the Faculty of Textile and Clothing Technology at the Mönchengladbach campus. With their own T-shirt design, they will go through the entire production chain from scanning to image processing and completion of the print file to the actual printing of the created design.
On October 10, pupils at the Krefeld West campus can discover Technical Chemistry by conducting experiments in the lab. On October 11, the chemistry lab will focus on fruit or Nutella bread: searching for traces in the lunchbox. Participants can find out for themselves how much sugar is actually in food.
At the two-day Design Lab of the Faculty of Design, pupils from the upper school can immerse themselves completely in the Krefeld West campus. From October 12 to 13, participants will be introduced to the topic of design with a mix of practice and theory and can learn about the study options.
At the lecture "What is actually ... industrial engineering?" on October 12, pupils will learn what industrial engineering is all about and how it differs from classic fields of study. Theory will be followed by practice: Afterwards, the students will visit a modern robotics lab, where they can experience the practical side of the studies.
In addition, the Coding School will take place twice. From October 4 to 6 at the Krefeld South Campus and from October 10 to 13 at the Mönchengladbach Campus. Pupils aged 13 and over will learn how to use the Raspberry PI single-board computer, programming languages such as Python C, BASH and the foundation courses of programming.
