The Hochschule Niederrhein is pleased to welcome 2747 new students for the winter semester 2023/2024. Today, Wednesday, the new freshmen were formally welcomed at the big Street Food Festival at the Mönchengladbach campus. "We are delighted that they have found their way to the Hochschule Niederrhein. We are sure that they will acquire the skills with us that will be a cornerstone for a successful professional life. They have made a good choice," said Professor Dr. Berthold Stegemerten (Vice President for Studies and Teaching Education) in his welcoming speech.
Of the 2747 students, 2436 are starting a bachelor's degree program. The number of master's students, which currently stands at 311, may still increase slightly in the coming weeks due to late registrations.
After the initial numbers had fallen slightly in previous years, this year around 230 more young people than in the previous year have again registered at the Hochschule Niederrhein.
The first-year students are starting in around 90 Bachelor's and Master's degree programmes offered in ten faculties in Krefeld and Mönchengladbach. Particularly popular degree programmes this year are Social Work with 220 registrations and Industrial Engineering with 145 registrations.
The Degree programmes in Computer Science (144) and Business Administration (136) also remain very popular. There is also strong demand for courses in cyber security. The Bachelor of Cyber Security Management has 129 enrollees, while the Digital Forensics Degree programme, which is being offered for the first time, has 56 full-time enrollees and an additional 52 part-time enrollees.
