The Episcopal Maria Montessori Comprehensive School in Krefeld and the Hochschule Niederrhein will be going their separate ways in the future. Principal Gabriele Vogt (3 from left) and University President Dr. Thomas Grünewald (4 from left) signed a cooperation agreement.

The Hochschule Niederrhein and BMMG in Krefeld cooperate

The Hochschule Niederrhein and the Bischöfliche Maria-Montessori-Gesamtschule have signed a cooperation agreement. Pupils will benefit from the wide range of courses offered by the university, especially in the field of STEM. In addition, the university's central Student Advice Service will support students and parents in their career orientation.

The Hochschule Niederrhein (HSNR) and the Bischöfliche Maria-Montessori-Gesamtschule (BMMG) are now joining forces to support and encourage pupils in their career choices. Both educational institutions have now signed a cooperation agreement that is intended to build a bridge to practice- and research-oriented studies and thus help generate the next generation of students.

"Through the cooperation with The Hochschule Niederrhein, we would like to awaken enthusiasm for further research and learning among our students and enable and support them in taking their first steps toward finding a career and a course of study," says Gabriele Vogt, principal of the BMMG. The HSNR's central Student Advice Service helps students and their parents with career guidance and the transition from school to university.

The two cooperation partners want to work closely together in the future, especially in the STEM area. The school would like to further expand its STEM offerings. A remodeled part of the European School building with modern classrooms, a research laboratory and open learning landscapes will enable science lessons according to the latest standards and promote independent research and learning.

At HSNR, it is possible for STEM-enthusiastic students to attend a one-week taster week to participate in selected courses or to take part in workshops in the high-tech workshop "MakerSpace" or in the IT student laboratory. Campus tours, the library rally and visits to the dining hall are also part of the program in order to familiarize students with the university environment in a "playful" way.

Not only students should benefit from the cooperation, but also BMMG teachers. An important component is the exchange between teachers from the school and professors from the HSNR. In addition, the HSNR supports teachers in getting young people interested in scientific and technical topics. Around 1000 pupils attend the Episcopal Maria Montessori Comprehensive School in Krefeld.
