The Hochschule Niederrhein (HSNR) is delighted to welcome 2732 new students for the winter semester 2024/2025. The newcomers started their studies with the induction week, which all faculties organize individually. This gives first-semester students enough time to get to know their fellow students, university locations and HSNR facilities before their actual studies begin.
"We are delighted that the students have found their way to The Hochschule Niederrhein. We are certain that they will acquire the academic and practical skills they need for a successful working life. We look forward to accompanying all new students on their way and thus fulfilling the claim of our mission statement 'Hochschule Niederrhein-Your Way'," says University President Dr. Thomas Grünewald.
Of the 2732 students, 2418 are starting a Bachelor's degree. The number of Master's students, which currently stands at 293, may increase slightly over the next few weeks due to late registrations. This puts the university at the same level as in the last three years. In view of the declining demand for studies in Germany, this is a welcome stabilization.
The first-year students are starting on around 90 Bachelor's and Master's degree programmes offered in Krefeld and Mönchengladbach. Particularly popular degree programs this winter semester are Social Work with 263 registrations and Business Administration with 215 registrations. The IT degree programs in Computer Science, Business Information Systems, Cyber Security Management and Digital Forensics continue to be in demand among students.
The university is very pleased with the great interest in the Bachelor's degree programme "Applied Psychology - Specialization in Health", which was offered for the first time: 102 students enrolled from 966 applications.
