Intercultural Week will take place in Krefeld from September 22 to September 29, 2024 under the motto "New Spaces". The municipal integration center of the city of Krefeld and the association of Krefeld migrant organizations have jointly put together a varied programme. This program combines information, education and culture by presenting topics such as political participation, war or flight in workshops, demonstrations, readings and lectures.
Over 50 organizations, associations and other interest groups are actively involved in the Intercultural Week. The Hochschule Niederrhein (HSNR) is also taking part in the nationwide week of action with three events. All of the university's events will take place in the Future Work Lab (Peterstraße 122, 47798 Krefeld). Admission is free.
On Tuesday (24 September, 6 p.m.), Professor Dr. Donja Amirpur from the Faculty of Applied Social Sciences will give a lecture on the topic of "Postmigrant moments in cultural work". The lecture will shed light on the pitfalls of intercultural work and present the concept of the post-migrant as an alternative. Students on the Cultural Education degree program have developed corresponding materials that sharpen the "post-migrant perspective" for cultural work. These will be presented in a lecture.
On Thursday (September 26, 3-6 p.m.), the university's International Office invites you to an afternoon of information and exchange. There will be an opportunity for an open exchange with international students and staff. There will also be an initial consultation on admission to studies with foreign educational qualifications (requirements and deadlines), preparation for studies (German courses) and the possibility of staying abroad during your studies. Experience reports from international students and a lecture round off the program.
An exhibition and lecture entitled "A look into the worlds of Arab women" by cultural education and cultural management student Miriam-Salwa B'chir will form the degree program. On Friday (September 27, 3 p.m.), her multimedia and interactive exhibition will focus on Arab feminism. The diverse roles of women and their achievements in art, culture and politics are given space to be seen and heard. Strong women with different backgrounds and spheres of influence are presented.
