HSNR offers fall holiday campus with workshops to try out

From October 14 to 25, students from 7th grade to high school can tinker, research and try out new things.

Go on a journey of discovery, try out new things, tinker and research - The Hochschule Niederrhein (HSNR) invites students from the seventh grade to the upper school to do just that. At the Fall Holiday Campus from October 14 to October 25, they can take part in free workshops and learn more about the faculties in open lectures. The events will take place at Krefeld South Campus (Reinarzstraße 49), Future Work Lab (Petersstraße 122) and Mönchengladbach Campus (Webschulstraße 41-43). Registration is required.

At "Coding@HSNR", the young participants learn how to program. They build an alarm system or smartphone controller, develop their own app and find out more about different programming languages. They discover the possibilities of creating simple games and web apps with HTML and Java Script and learn more about IT security and artificial intelligence.

If you want to find out what you can study at the HSNR, take advantage of the taster course - for example in Business Administration. In the lecture hall, interested students are introduced to topics such as human resources, marketing, procurement and controlling and are given a guided tour of the DigiLab.

At the Faculty of Textile and Clothing Technology, students learn the foundation course of weaving in a workshop. Using two machines, they gain an insight into the various manufacturing processes and are allowed to help design a fabric themselves by selecting yarns, materials, densities and yarn sequences.

At the Faculty of Food and Nutrition Sciences, they can become mushroom professionals and find out how mushrooms can be cultivated at home with the right care instructions. In the workshop, a special mushroom substrate is produced and inoculated with mycelium. In the "Academy of Magic Students", participants create their own fantastic accessories, sew a magic cloak including a coat of arms, make a vibrating magic wand, treasure or glowing candles.

Details of these and other activities, including times, ages, locations and registration details, can be found at: www.hs-niederrhein.de/herbstferiencampus.
