116 graduates of the Faculty of Mechanical and Process Engineering at Hochschule Niederrhein (HSNR) have received their degree certificates at a ceremony. Two of them also received a special distinction for the best final grades.
"The distinction of being the best in my year means a lot to me, as it shows that my dedication and commitment have paid off. It is a great motivation for me to continue working hard in the future and to develop innovative approaches to technical challenges," says Göktug Gülderen, who came top of his class in the field of process engineering with a final grade of 1.68. In his Bachelor's thesis, he dealt with the problem of gas entrainment in the washing water of a blast furnace gas scrubber. He not only researched the cause of the problem, but also derived measures to solve it. For his achievement, he was awarded the €1000 Bayer AG Foundation Prize, which was presented by Philipp Schmidt, Head of Engineering at Bayer AG.
The second prize winner of the evening was Jireh Reginold. With a final grade of 1.12, he was the best student of the year in the field of mechanical engineering. In his Bachelor's thesis, Reginold investigated a residual dirt laboratory in order to optimize it. The increasing demands on technical cleanliness require high production quality as well as precise proof of the cleanliness of the manufactured components in order to meet the strict specifications of car manufacturers. Holger Baunach, chairman of the support association of the engineering faculties of the HSNR, presented the prize of 1000 euros.
