The Krefeld climate partners discussed the opportunities of electromobility and "mobility on demand" at their latest partnership meeting. The Hochschule Niederrhein's Future Work Lab in the Behnisch-Haus welcomed the climate partners by university president Dr. Thomas Grünewald. The university is an initial partner and climate partner in the alliance. The aim of the partnership meetings is to network the members of the climate pact and to provide information on the opportunities and prospects of energy-saving measures and conversion to climate-friendly technologies.
At the latest partnership meeting in the Future Work Lab, speakers Lukas Spengler, academic staff member at the SWK E² - Institute of Energy Technology and Energy Management at The Hochschule Niederrhein, and Martina Foltys-Banning, Mobility Manager for the City of Krefeld, presented the current status of their specialist areas. The companies were then invited to contribute their suggestions and comments. The two experts answered specific questions on the challenges surrounding the topic of mobility in companies.
37 members - Krefeld companies, educational institutions and associations - are now members of the Climate Pact. Laufenberg GmbH, Currenta GmbH & Co OHG, Seidenweberhaus GmbH, operator of the Seidenweberhaus and the Yayla Arena, and Montgsmorgens GmbH have joined the Climate Pact in recent months. The common goal is to promote climate protection in Krefeld. The Krefeld Climate Pact ensures that climate protection is implemented in a very concrete way and in close cooperation with many local companies. All partners benefit from membership, because as signatories they are supported in the implementation of their corporate climate protection measures. Consultations in the companies enable energy saving potentials to be exploited or the companies themselves to become energy producers. All of this helps Krefeld on its way to achieving climate neutrality.
The Krefeld Climate Pact adopted by the city council was signed on behalf of the city administration on May 4, 2023 by Lord Mayor Frank Meyer and Sabine Lauxen, Head of the Environment Department, as well as all other initial partners. In addition to the city administration, the initial partners of the Climate Pact also include the Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK) Mittlerer Niederrhein, the Chamber of Crafts (HWK) Düsseldorf, the Kreishandwerkerschaft Niederrhein/Krefeld/Viersen/Neuss, The Hochschule Niederrhein and Wirtschaftsförderung Krefeld (WFG). Information on the Climate Pact can be found on the website www.klimapakt-krefeld.de. Other interested companies can become members. Contact can be made via the office by sending an email to klimapakt(at)krefeld.de. The last Climate Pact partnership meeting of the year will take place in November 2024.
