The registration phase for the Winter Academy at the Hochschule Niederrhein has begun. From now until January 29th, students, employees and external persons can register for various workshops in the area of "Future Skills". From February 6th to 15th, around 30 seminars will be offered, dealing with important qualities such as teamwork, critical thinking, mindfulness or communication skills.
Those interested will learn, for example, how to negotiate salary, how to say no, how to develop their potential, how to become rhetorically fit, how to write a thesis, how to react in a quick-witted and spontaneous manner, or how to use good arguments to become argumentative. Topics such as work-life balance, emotional intelligence or intercultural team training are also covered. The courses take place online or in presence: Mondays through Fridays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The motto of the Winter Academy is "Hochschule Niederrhein qualifies further". Since 2005, professors and external experts have been offering content from the area of key competencies, which are important for success in studies and careers far removed from subject-specific skills. The courses offer the opportunity to further develop one's own personality. Special courses are offered for individual target groups such as those with professional qualifications or women.
Heike Kröpke, head of the Winter Academy, is convinced by the program: "In the Winter Academy, we can teach key competencies in an activating learning atmosphere. Because the participants work in small groups, we can respond to everyone individually."
For those already studying at the Hochschule Niederrhein, this year's Winter Academy is completely free. Employees of the university pay 20 (1-day seminar) or 40 euros (2-day seminar), external participants 50 euros or 100 euros. A certificate is issued after successful participation.
Students register via the online course catalog HIO. Freshmen without HIO access, externals and employees can register on the website via registration form. For more information and to register, visit: www.hs-niederrhein.de/winterakademie.
