It's that time again: The eleventh Mönchengladbach MuseumsUni will take place from August to October. Six professors from the Hochschule Niederrhein and two guest lecturers will give exciting talks for pupils at Rheydt Castle. The MuseumsUni brings pupils closer to the interesting programmes offered by the Hochschule.
The event will kick off on August 31 with one of the guest lecturers. Dr. Stefan Burmeister, managing director of Museum and Park Kalkriese, asks whether the famous Varus Battle actually represented a turning point in our history. "Every Platform a Goldmine?" Prof. Dr. Kathleen Diener looks at the challenges with Spotify, Netflix & Co. "Are we running out of water"? A very important question addressed by Detlef Schumacher, Managing Director of NEW's Niederrheinwasser. If you want to know why you actually need mathematics, Prof. Dr. Siegfried Kirsch is the right person to ask. Prof. Dr. Ekaterina Nannen and Prof. Dr. Anne Schwarz-Pfeiffer will be investigating whether sustainability can be achieved through smart textiles. And whether plastics are waste or a valuable resource, participants will learn from Prof. Dr. Michael Heber. "Who decides what we eat?" explains Prof. Dr. Michaela Noreik. The degree on October 19 is then the lecture by Prof. Dr. Beate Küpper. She says, "Prejudices - no thanks!"
A total of eight lectures will take place, giving an impression of the main areas of work of the scientists and academics and, not least, of the wide range of subjects and topics at the Hochschule Niederrhein. The target group is pupils from secondary schools. The program contains information on the age group for which the individual events are suitable. For more details, visit www.schlossrheydt.de.
The lectures for our "young scientists" will once again take place in the - now completely redesigned - Rittersaal of Rheydt Castle. The dates are always Tuesdays and Thursdays from 12 to 1 pm. The offer is aimed at class groups accompanied by up to two teachers or accompanying persons. Thanks to the support of the Stadtsparkasse Mönchengladbach, participation is free of charge. Registration is required, please contact the Museum Schloss Rheydt: Tel.: 02166 92890-11.
