Panel discussion "Violence against women: Perspectives for Change" at the HSNR

According to a study, one in three women in Germany is affected by sexual and/or physical violence. This topic will be discussed at the event "Violence against women: Perspectives for Change" on Wednesday, November 20 (5:30 to 8 p.m.) at the Mönchengladbach campus (room ZE34) at The Hochschule Niederrhein. Interested parties can participate in person or online via Zoom. The event is free of charge. Interested parties can register at OrangeDays(at)hs-niederrhein.de.

The event was initiated by Dr. Sandra Laumen, Equal Opportunities Officer at The Hochschule Niederrhein (HSNR) and the Mönchengladbach associations Zonta I, Zonta II and Soroptimist. They want to provide insights into the complex task of combating violence against women in order to understand the causes of violence, support those affected and hold perpetrators to account.

In order to understand the diverse perspectives on this topic, the organizers have invited four different actors: The guest is psychologist Gerhard Hafner, the ambassador of the "HeForShe" movement of UN Women Germany and an expert in working with perpetrators. Other participants in the subsequent panel discussion are Susanne Büdenhölzer-Boms from the Mönchengladbach Women's Advice Center, Prof. Dr. Sandra Glammeier from the HSNR and Detective Chief Inspector Sabine Pesch from the Mönchengladbach Police Victim Protection Unit. The evening will be moderated by Dr. Sandra Laumen, Equal Opportunities Officer at the HSNR.

From November 20 to December 11, various events and campaigns will take place around the International Day against Violence against Women and Girls (November 25). Further information on this and other events as part of the Orange Days can be found at: www.hs-niederrhein.de/orangedays.
