How can work, research, teaching and learning at The Hochschule Niederrhein (HSNR) become more sustainable? Representatives from the five Faculties of Chemistry, Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, Mechanical and Process Engineering, Textile and Clothing Technology and Industrial Engineering are tackling this question in the "Smart Interfaces - SmInt" project. As part of SmInt, for example, laboratories are to be analyzed in terms of resource consumption and a knowledge database is to be created using the example of textile recycling products.
As part of this project, two hybrid lecture series will take place in November, either in person at Krefeld South Campus (J-Building, Room JE17, Obergath 79, 47805 Krefeld) or online:
On Wednesday, November 6, 2024, at 2 p.m., the topic of "sustainability" will be considered from two perspectives. Annika Joosten from the Sustainability and Diversity Office at HSNR will talk about "Sustainability at the university". Afterwards, Dr. Georg Geier, Managing Director of Siempelkamp Giesserei GmbH, will provide insights into "Sustainability in industrial practice".
On November 20 (from 2 p.m.), Professor Dr. Dirk Tischler from Ruhr University Bochum will continue with a lecture on "Microbial Powerhouses: Bacterial Azo Dye Degradation". The lecture will provide insights into microbial degradation processes of textile dyes in wastewater.
Anyone interested in attending the two lectures online can register by e-mail at elisabeth.mueller-peddinghaus(at)hs-niederrhein.de.
