Business students celebrate their degrees - and their best work

454 graduates from the Faculty of Business Administration and Economics at the Hochschule Niederrhein (HSNR) have their Bachelor's, Master's or doctorate in the bag. To mark the occasion, the academic graduation ceremony was held recently. The IHK awarded the best theses with a certificate and a gift.

Accordingly, Pia Niedrée from Krefeld, who studied International Marketing, was honored. In her Bachelor's thesis, she drew up a German-French comparison: She analyzed consumers' expectations regarding the guarantees offered by various food labels and the influence of these expectations on their purchasing behavior. She was rewarded for this with a final grade of 1.0.

Laura Hermanns and Jacqueline Arimond also wrote theses with a grade of 1.0. Laura Hermanns from Niederkrüchten in the Viersen district studied taxes and auditing for her bachelor's degree. She provided a critical analysis of the compatibility of the sales tax fiscal unity regulation with Union law.

Jacqueline Arimond from Jüchen did her Master's degree part-time in the Career-Integrated Degree Programmes in Business Law - a Degree programme offered by the HSNR in cooperation with the Institute for Integrated Degree Programmes of the State of NRW. The topic of her thesis was "Common good economy - an alternative economic model and its legal requirements." Her performance was also evaluated with a 1.0.

In addition, the IHK honored Dr. Anna Herzog from the university's affiliated institute NIERS, who resided in Düsseldorf during her master's studies in Business Management and her doctorate. In her doctorate (Doctor of Philosophy), she used Mönchengladbach as a case study to investigate how old industrial cities can overcome path dependencies and manage structural change processes.

All four award winners were honored with a plaque on the Wall of Fame on the Mönchengladbach campus. The evening was accompanied musically by a woodwind trio: Johanna Hoffacker, Martin Lickfett and Filip Hofius are the winners of the regional competition "Jugend musiziert 2023", in the state competition they secured 2nd place.
