The 3d Geoinfo took place only virtually this year. In his "Short Paper" entitled "Building roof vectorization with PPGNet", our doctoral student Simon Hensel described how a neural network can be used to calculate edge polygons of roof surfaces from orthophotos. He was distinguished with the "Best Extended Abstract Award" for this work.
Prof. Goebbels also presented a full paper entitled "Reconstruction of bridge superstructures from airborne laser scanning point clouds". This paper investigates the automated creation of 3D bridge models from measured LIDAR data for use in a 3D cadastre.
