“Freiraum” Project at Hochschule Niederrhein: Voltera Nova Enables Innovative Student Projects

As part of the “Freiraum” project, Hochschule Niederrhein has acquired a Voltera Nova, a state-of-the-art device for prototyping electronic circuits. The purchase was funded by a €414,000 grant from the Foundation for Innovation in University Teaching. The Voltera Nova allows students to efficiently print circuit boards and develop electronic prototypes with precision.

The device is used to support students working in interdisciplinary teams on practical projects. During the summer semester, it was utilized in modules where students developed systems for vertical farming and smart assistive solutions, among other innovations. These projects not only apply theoretical knowledge but also foster the development of broader professional skills.

With this advanced technology, sustainable foundations for future projects are being created. Prototypes, components, and tools designed by students will remain available for future teaching and serve as starting points for new student initiatives.

The “Freiraum” project integrates modern technologies with innovative teaching approaches, providing students with a cutting-edge learning environment. Hochschule Niederrhein demonstrates its commitment to linking theory and practice, preparing students for the demands of the professional world.
