She attributes this to the practical orientation of her apprenticeship at the Hochschule Niederrhein, as she spent her internship semester at a facility for single men in difficult social situations. This made it easy for her to make the right choice when looking for a job. And with the professional experience she has gained, she has a clear verdict on the studies at the Hochschule Niederrhein: "I would always choose the studies of social work again and also precisely at the Mönchengladbach campus because I liked the atmosphere so much. There you are not just a number, but are perceived and understood as a human being." She simply enjoyed the studies immensely. It started with the freshman week, which she later experienced from the other side as a "freshman tutor", spending a week getting to know the campus, the city and student life, and introducing them to the new students. She also found the proximity to the professors very helpful and pleasant and emphasizes that although you have to attend compulsory courses such as seminars, you can still enjoy life. Through her activities in the faculty student council, as a tutor, in the support association or as a student assistant, she got to know and supported many facets of the university. Through her committee activities, she has strengthened her organizational skills and her ability to work independently. These are qualities that benefit her greatly in her professional life today. Even the unloved subject of business studies, which could have been a stumbling block in her studies, and the stressful Bachelor's thesis, she sees more positively in retrospect. She overcame these hurdles as well and thinks back fondly on her time as a student and how her studies led her to her dream job as a social worker. A job she has lost her heart to and is passionate about. But perhaps Jennifer Lohrmann will be drawn back to the Hochschule Niederrhein to complete a Master's degree in the Faculty of Applied Social Sciences after all.
