About the certificate course

At the latest when taking on a management function, interpersonal skills become just as important as technical skills in scientific career paths. Everyday life in a management function requires distinctive soft skills, knowledge of companies and their cultures, laboratory and project management, budget management, occupational safety and much more. How are scientists supposed to fill these knowledge gaps and have the required expertise ready in the shortest possible time?

The certificate course "Laboratory Management" provides you as (prospective) junior laboratory managers with the necessary interdisciplinary competencies to successfully work as laboratory managers. University lecturers with practical experience support your professional development through expertise, exercises, role plays, in-depth sources and a great deal of personal practical relevance.

Laboratory managers at the beginning of their careers, prospective laboratory managers, and employees with management responsibilities in analytical, chemical, and pharmaceutical laboratories.

Teaching and learning education

The interactive seminar-style course offers the opportunity to address individual questions and problems of the participants. A variety of media (including business games, video feedback, group work phases) and the support of an online learning platform in the self-study and examination phases support the learning success.

Because practical orientation and exciting topics from the everyday life of laboratory managers are not taught in many degree programmes in the natural sciences and engineering, but they are at least as challenging for prospective laboratory managers as technical issues.
