Software Engineering compact

Hochschule Niederrhein. Your way.
About the ONLINE-training

Software is an essential component of industrial systems, products and services. The demand for IT specialists remains high. This demand is not met by traditional education and training systems alone. Companies, administrations and organizations often employ career changers from other fields or employ practitioners who have been involved in software development and/or system administration for many years after their initial vocational training.

An essential prerequisite for the systematic and successful development and use of software is the confident application of software engineering principles, methods and tools. With this training course, we therefore offer a compact training program for career changers, career starters, but also for software development practitioners who would like to gain an overview of the fundamental aspects of software engineering for their everyday project work.

In-house training
Individually tailored to your requirements

Core tasks of software engineering

The core tasks include all aspects that are important in the development of software, regardless of the type of temporal organization:

  • Analyze: Understanding tasks and estimating effort
  • Construct: use the results of the analysis to design a system in a rough and refined form
  • Implement: Converting the designs into executable / usable systems
  • Operate: putting systems into operation, maintaining and further developing them

The specialization of the course is on the fundamental aspects and less on implementation techniques and the application of individual tools.
The course therefore deals primarily with the core tasks of analyzing and designing. Concrete implementations are not created; instead, basic procedures and problems are discussed. The same applies to the operation of systems.

Cross-sectional tasks of software engineering

In addition to the core tasks, this training course highlights the importance of the cross-sectional tasks that play a role in the processing of all core tasks:

  • Quality management: ensuring and checking the quality of systems
  • Configuration management with:

Process management: organizing and monitoring the processing of core tasks

Knowledge management: securing and managing all relationships, procedures used and results achieved during software development.

Goals

The course is intended to make it clear that the secure application of software engineering principles, methods and tools is an essential prerequisite for the systematic and successful development and use of software.

In particular, the course should

  • enable participants to consider fundamental aspects of software engineering in their everyday project work.
  • motivate and enable participants to familiarize themselves independently with further aspects / areas of software engineering and to incorporate these into their everyday project work.

Three questions for the university teacher / lecturer:

Why is continuing education on "New Recruiting" currently of interest to many professionals?
Many companies are desperately looking for qualified employees. There are many job advertisements, but often unsuitable applications. In many cases, contact with suitable candidates is made via social networks, peer recommendations or direct approaches. Every company should be aware of the new, sometimes unconventional recruitment options for "Generation Z" and try out the most promising ways.

What are you particularly looking forward to at this training course?
Discussing the best recruitment methods with participants and hearing reports on best practices.

And what can the participants look forward to?
They will learn about new and sometimes unconventional ways of recruiting. They will benefit from the discussion and exchange of experiences within the group.
